I love Monday’s in work, sounds mad to say that, but after the initial drag myself out of bed scenario after a busy weekend at work, the day soon improves when I walk through Peaches doors. Mondays usually consist of me and Hayesy cleaning the shop from top to bottom, whilst listening to cringeful music/singing and occasionally dancin’ whilst doing so!! This week Little Katie was off so Roey took over and with a little help from Will Smith’s Greatest Hits we had the shop sparklin’!

Another good thing about Mondays is the fact I get to become a teacher for the day in the make up lessons that are booked in. This week we had a girl, Mhairi,  come all the way from Aberdeen to have the ultimate Peaches Experience. Firstly she had her hair put up by Kate, she chose one of our newest trends the ‘curly pony’ – which was perfected with one of Nic’s new fish plait head bands. Then she was ready to complete her look with a makeup lesson. Mhairi chose to have a go at mastering the ‘glitter smokes’ lesson and soon picked out two of Peaches new eye shadow pigments which she fell in love with and wanted to buy pretty much straight away!

I have included a few pics from the lesson. I started by talking Mhairi through the stages of the makeover step by step, starting with her eyes. I did the whole make over on one half of her face and left the other half for her to have a go herself. She was really confident and soon had the other side of her face looking just as good as mine!! :)

Make up lessons are available throughout the week Monday to Thurdays in shop hours for individuals , or alternate Tuesday and Wednesday night – call the shop for more info 01512271669.

Heres a few words from my student of the day!
‘After watching ‘don’t tell the bride’ on BBC3 when it first came on screen. I became inspired by the work peaches and cream do. I found myself constantly scouring there website for make up tips and ideas but could never get it ‘just right’.Having just turned 21 my mum suggested we go to liverpool for the weekend so I could finally try the peaches way for myself. I could not have asked for better service and the outcome was amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed my day and can definitely see my self making the 6 hour journey from aberdeen again just to feel as fab as I do today ( even tho all I’m doing is shopping for the day!!! ) Thank you very much, love Mhairi x’

At long last we are launching our own range of intense eyeshadow pigments and we’ve decided to name them after Penny Sweets! The first four we have released are a frosty Baby Pink- Strawberry Shrimp, a bright yellow- Sherbet Lemon, a vivid purple- Parma Violet and a vibrant Lime green- Jelly Bean, they are great to layer under our new range of Baby Glitters aswell as wear alone, as seen on Rosie and Polly in the ‘Pimp my Dress’ photoshoots.

Over the next few weeks we will be expanding the range to includes loads more of amazing must have shades so keep your eye on The Peaches Blog for all your hot of the press peachy updates!

A week in the life of Scratch….OMG this week has been mental, I’ve only just stopped to breathe and tell you all about it.

If you don’t already know, when I’m not doing nails, I Live in London and I’m a full time secondary school teacher (Fashion & Textiles) so I rarely get a spare minute between getting down with the kids and painting nails.

This week I’ve been in peaches doing my usual unusual nail art, which included Royal Nails for Princess Kate’s Liverpool visit, Some epic Barbie claws, Valentines nails, Tribal nails inspired by the latest Marebows and I scratched out Rosie for the first time-between the two of us we custom designed a set of personalised nails, which included a tattoo of her boyfriends name a random pink cat, and a picture of Bob Marley (but that’s a future blog)!

As I’m not from Liverpool I’ve only just discovered Ryan Vintage and I can’t express my excitement for this shop enough! On my first visit I bought 5 pairs of retro leggings, each one in shiny spandex with crazy brightly coloured graphic prints. You either love them or hate them but the Peaches have a huge penchant for leggings. Needless to say, these have really inspired me for new nail designs. I have also been very inspired by the Pineapple dress on My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, so much so that I am planning a whole new pineapple inspired theme!

As well as my regular nails I have also been working on some bespoke sets for Jeffery Michael, a fashion designer who has designed costumes for Jessie J and Groove Armada . His debut collection is hitting the catwalk on Sunday 19th Feb to mark the end of London Fashion Week. I can’t give away any details just yet but each set of nails is inspired by one of the amazing garments. The polish was supplied by O.P.I, which I am a huge fan of. Keep an eye out for this…I will have more news and pictures from the event soon, I have decided to wear a denim shirt with my Marebow as a dickie bow, I am very excited.

On Thursday I was 29! So I decided to treat myself, I’ve been so busy lately my whole body came out in a ‘stress rash’, according to the doctor I need to sleep more! However, I decided a spray tan from Nicola would help to cover it up, and it has, I have a wonderful  glow, except my right arm is sporting a leopard type effect due to the rash. I also got a facial from another salon, which has resulted in my left eye being almost swollen shut (I’m allergic to everything) so I’m writing this with squinting through one eye, looking rather attractive!

Last week my landlord announced that he was giving the house to his newly married son, therefore I have to move house (for the 5th time in 4 years)-major inconvenience!!! All of my belongings are packed and ready to move, so when I go back to London tomorrow (sob) I will be moving into my new house. I hope the next time I move it will be to Liverpool !!!

On the agenda for next week is Dance Rock Challenge, which is a huge international dance competition that my students are entering in London, the theme is top secret but I will be doing some very interesting body and face painting on 60 teenagers before they battle to win the title with their 7 minute piece. I am really looking forward to this as I get a lot of inspiration from my students and these type of school days are always the best-plus I get to inject a bit of the Scratchy spirit in to my life as a teacher.

Until next time me and my swollen eyelid are signing off, Big Love, Scratch x

After the success of the dress me and Roey ‘pimped’ last week we went to Manchester to raid the Northern quarter for more monstrosities in need of a Peaches makeover! We now have around 20 items in need of a major ‘face lift’!

This week saw Polly’s turn to be ‘pimped’ along with the dress! The dress is made from a gorgeous sheer linen cotton ( if there is such a thing?) with a hand painted floral design in this seasons hottest shades of mint, lemon, pink and powder blue. We decided to take it up and trim with a matching mint lace. We then also took the sleeves up using the rolling technique we used last week. We transformed the tacky satin sash by removing the bow and replacing it with one made from the leftovers of the skirt. Finally no ‘ Pimp My Dress’ transformation is complete without a matching Marebow which we also made from the leftovers of the dress, using the centre from the pink satin bow that we took off the belt!

For the hair and makeup we kept it simple and girlie. Polly used one of the Peaches soon to be released Pigments in a Green Apple shade on her eyes with a flicked liner and of course 2 sets of Peaches Best Selling number 09 strip eyelashes. Nic provided the finishing touches with an extra large high ponytail, a very popular look with alot of clients at the salon this season.

So there you have it…. cashing in at a grand total of £11! £10 for the dress and £1 for the bundle of lace from Abakhan Fabrics behind TJ’s on London Road!

Have promised Nic its her turn next week so watch this space for Baby Peach rockin’ Grandma Chic! xxx

Congrats to our adopted Peach Tanya and Liam on their engagement! We are all so happy for them!!
