Most people get a necklace or even a car (these days) for their 18th Birthday. Not me. I got a sewing machine! Unimpressed at first (no I had not asked for it, or even mentioned it) you could say it eventually grew on me! Once I started makeup college it got packed away in dad’s tool cupboard up untill afew weeks ago when I dug it out to make the ever popular Marebow range.
Alot of the Marebows are made from vintage fabrics to give them that unique look everyone it going mad for. Perfect timing then for Ryan’s Vintage to have opened, a new shop at the top of Bold street. They have an amazing shop in Manchester that Rosie introduced me to before christmas. The best thing about Ryan’s is that their prices are reflected in their ‘Its not vintage, its second hand’ attitude. So last week I picked up 5 dresses for around £60. All of which I picked for the fabric alone. On taking them home Bigmare refused to let me cut up the number Rosie is wearing. I too had secretly been thinking the same, so spared on by the success of the barbie shoes I got my ‘Gok on’ and with Rosie’s help ‘Pimped My Dress’!
We took the dress up shorter and made a Hair Bow from the leftovers (these are now for sale online). We also rolled up the sleeves and sewed them into place. To finish it off we lent an Angel Face tutu from Minnie Bee in ‘Flying Saucer’ . At £58 you should look at one as an investment that can be worn under whatever dress or skirt you like especially if you buy a neutral colour. For £58 I’m sure you’ll agree that it (along with a few of my nifty stitches) transforms a £15 dress into a £150 dress!
For todays photoshoot I wanted to give Rosie one of the ‘ Amy Winehouse’ beehives seen at Jean Paul Gaultiers latest catwalk shows. If you wanna rock this look yourself you need to loosely curl your hair with the straightners, backcomb it all over, throw the back up into a french roll leaving the top section flossy, messy and flicked to one side. Set it with a full can of extra strong hairspray.
With the makeup I kept it simple and all about the colour similar to last weeks shoot. For anyone interested these were the products of choice…
1. Eyes: Peaches ‘Lemon Cake’ Dust (COMING SOON!). A thick black flicked Illamasqua cake liquid liner. 2 Sets of Peaches NEW style 55 Strip eyelashes.
2. Base: Lancome Color Ideal liquid foundation in 04. Mac Blot Powder in Medium. Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in Medium Deep. Mac Powder Blushers Full Fushia and Peaches mixed. Mac Vanilla Pigment to highlight.
3. Lips: A mixture of Barry M lip paints 147 and 52.
For anyone who fancies experimenting with colour this spring I think this is a fairly easy look to replicate.
I hope this inspires everyone to start recycling their clothes and pimping dresses. Its so much fun, so rewarding and I’m off to Manchester Northern Quarter tomorrow to scour for more pimp worthy frocks so watch this space!

Today while the shop was quiet we thought it would be a good idea to do a little blog on what we learnt from Nicky J last week at our private hair lesson! Little Katie had a good attempt (/only really did a funny fish plait) on my hair , so Kate Don stepped in and saved me from what was lookin’ like a walnut whip on my head! I then returned the favour and had a go at the new ‘Ferrero Rocher’ on Katie’s blondie locks. Mine wasn’t much better than hers, but I think I managed to wing it!! After applying some smokes we nipped next door to see the lovely Tanya Maxwell at Thirteen http://www.minniebee.co.uk/ and asked if we could borrow two of her tops to model for the website. Tan picked her two new faves , the leopard print sequin numbers!! I chose the pink (which has been sent out to TOWIE’S Chloe Simms this week!) and Katie went for the darker colours! The tops are absolutely gorgeous and fitted perfectly – we had compliments from a lot of customers calling into the shop at how fab they were. Tanya’s creations are available to buy online for £140, or you can buy them in her quirky boutique which is next door but one to Peaches. Tanya’s clothing line is so unique and from personal experience can say that you feel a million dollars in her creations! At the end of the shoot – we threw in a few real Fererro Rochers for good measure!!

Last night it was my brother’s 21st birthday party,of all things he wanted a 70′s themed house party.
As soon as I found out, I knew it would be another chance for me an my bessy Sarah to get crafty so we sat “googlin” and found this picture of Jackson 5. I knew straight away that was what we were going as. There was 5 to start with until I found out that the party fell on the same day as a friends hen do, which is why we ended up with the name ‘Jackson Deux’. With a few trips to my fav fabric shop and many blisters from the glue gun we had our homemade costumes!
I pimped the house ; we had a massive tent set up in the garden that was the disco room, our very own studio 54 bar and a hippy style cocktail bar in the garage, along with every other room in the house covered in decorations for the occasion.
Anyone who has been to a fancy dress party must know the funniest part is when everyone arrives an you cant breathe laughing at how funny everyone looks. My mum walked straight past my sister not even recognising her an my brother nearly fell to the floor when I walked in the room. As you can probably all see from the pics the best dressed award had to go to Michael’s friend Sculley who went as Mr T.(who actually super glued the strip of hair on to his head)
The party was amazing, everyone boogied the night away an even though it was hard work putting 10 sets of fairy lights up, an covering the tent in 0ver 100 feet of 70′s scene setters in temperatures of -5 degrees it was worth every sniffle i’ve had from my cold this week to see my lil bro move on the dance floor like he was the real John Travolta.
Hope you all enjoy feeling for a few minutes like you were there at the party looking at the pics. Keep checking out the page this week as there is a video that will be uploaded of the night itself too.
lots of peachy love

At long last my head from the hall of fame is now finished!! I was unable to finish mine last week as I was busy with appointments.. its hard being the octopus of the group who can do all of the treatments in the shop! Originally I planned to do Nicki Minaj (my fave) but someone mentioned that we needed an Avatar rebirth after the attention it drew on Halloween’s Peaches and Scream. There is now an Avatar that has been Peached sitting with the other heads on top of our displays.. what do you all think … ?!

Little Katie And PollyWin here! … Right girls this weeks blog is of course about TOWIE! Everyone has been going nuts this week about TOWIE because its back and on our screens , also the girls all went to the NTA’s last week! An they all looked fabulous! especially Lydia Rose Bright and Lucy Mecklenburgh , so because me and Polly are glued to TOWIE we thought why not reincarnate there makeups? So we have picked our Favorite blonde and brunette , mine is of course the beautiful and fashionable Lydia Rose Bright and Polly’s was the stunning , gorgeous Lucy . So I have picked Lydia Makeup from her birthday meal , she is so elegant rocking her natural porsalin skin , I on the other hand have the darkest foundation we use in the shop so this was a very dramatic change for me! I used Two sets of Peaches And Cream lashes and Bright red lips , At the end of the makeup I loved it and Lydia’s red lips and pin curled hair has definately made me want to Rock the natural Essex look!!
Like Little Katie said, everybody has been talking about Towie this week! I have heard mixed reviews on both the show and the cast members make up. But its clear to see they are going all out in the hair and make up department this series. I think the newest craze on the show this week has been battle of the blonde and brunette with their use of red lipstick. For the blog this week I thought i’d have a go at Lucy’s grey smokes and red lippy look (mainly because I have the same tartan dress she had one this episode!). A lot of clients get put off using red lipstick, but I feel with the right smudgey smokey eye make up, red can really compliment a persons flawless base, and be a really eye catching part of a girls make up!! Both me and Little Katie felt really in character with our new looks!!

I’m starting to think that me and Tanya from Thirteen are physic! 2 weeks ago I nipped in to see her about my dress for Chester Races. As soon as I mentioned Meadham Kirchoff we were both screamin ‘No way!’ Tanya was already planning to base some of her spring summer collection around their latest amazing designs.
Too impatient to wait till summer we’ve spent the last two weeks planning for todays Kawaii masterpiece. Inspired by the Harajuku girl tribes in Tokyo me and Rosie customised a pair of wedges using penny sweets, pom poms, sequins, marabou and barbie heads.
Rosie was the obvious model choice with her candyfloss hair which I backcombed into bunches complete with a quirky fake fringe. When it comes to Kawaii more is more however I didn’t want to make the makeup too fussy although I couldn’t resist drawing on afew freckles for extra ‘strawberry shortcake’ cuteness!
Challenged to say the least by the high heels and fake Kawaii nails we headed over to the carpark by The Pig and Whistle to take photos against the backdrop of Banksy’s latest creation. Someone must of been looking down on us, as we even managed to get the rain we had been praying for so we could use the pastel coloured brolleys I bought as props!
Having Tanya next door is the best, and was definately ment to be. I might be able to sew a few Marebows but thats where my sewing talents end! This is only our second collaboration I’m just so excited for what other Peaches/THIRtEEN concoctions lie ahead!
Now for a word from the talent that is Tanya…
“It was Bigmare who brought Meadham Kirchhoff to my attention. It was December and straight away the pastel colours and overall “doll style” look of the collection was fresh and vibrant and the complete oppostite of winter’s golds, glitters and anything sequinned.
For our version I stuck with the staple buttermilk shirt with exaggerated collar, cuffs and frill trim.
For the pinafore dress we went all out on colour clash. Lilac overall pinafore with bulky cross over straps and big pink false fastening buttons. The central focus of which being the heart shaped green-eyed doll face. For lower part of the dress I trimmed it in pom poms and puffed it out with layers and layers of Kirchhoff’s key colour scheme chiffons.
A pretty pink tie sets off the (much loved) Harajuku image. I have taken key elements of Kirchhoffs collection, exaggerated details such as buttons, bows and pom poms and worked them into THIRtEEN.
Then you’s take it to another leval by transforming Rosie into a real life doll accompanied by the mother of all shoe creations! And the look is complete! beast! ”
Much Love

What a perfect start to the week. This Morning I had Maryamm in, one of my regulars from the old shop who I haven’t seen for a very long time! I was even more excited to find out she was off for a photoshoot with Kath another familiar face from Garston Old Road. Kath is a photographer…. but much more than a photographer. She’s like the Gok Wan of the photography world. Check out her website http://www.theboudoirbook.com/. She has the ability to make you look and feel amazing no matter what shape or size you are. One of these days I must get round to booking myself in before its too late and the lines have set in. I think its important for every woman to have photos of themselves in their prime to look back on. But to kill 2 birds with one stone why not get them done for a boyfriend, husband or even girlfriend for either Valentines Day or a Birthday present!
I dont think Kath will have much work to do with Maryamm. You can see from the photos I took this morning she’s actually already a walking, talking Glamourpuss. Although on my advice I think she was going to pop to Spar to buy some Dutch Courage aka Rosé to take along with her! We went for a classic Kardashian look, natural but is actually loads look and I must include that her hair looked absolutely stunning courtesy of Lorna in Richard Michael on Rose Lane who does does her bonded hair extensions, and Donna at Icon hairdressers on Aigburth Road who does the most amazing blow drys! The proof is in the pictures, I just can’t wait to see the professional ones!

What a long month January was! Finally everyone’s been paid, so it was nice to see all my regulars back this Sat, who, other than Miss Toni Grant, have all been hibernating all month eager to get paid, get shopping and get out! Lesley Ann, Sarah, Sherine and Lauren Mc oh how I’ve missed blending your smokes to the perfection you demand, it’s actually you who I now owe my level of expertise to!
