30 September 15.
Today we held our first Halloween themed masterclass. Spoilt for choice with ideas I eventually settled on Poison Ivy which is always a hit with Peaches & Scream clients every year. On Monday I sat up all night burning my fingers on the glue gun creating a costume using a corset style dress purchased in the Ann Summers sale and garlands of false ivy purchased from Whittington's at the fruit and flower market on Edge Lane. The end result looked absolutely gorge... a tad small for me but perfect for little Becky my model after a little persuasion. Big Mare ( my mum) provided the finishing touch loaning us her Milano thigh high boots from circa 2007!
For the Eye makeup we teamed a red glitter brow ( Lit Vixen) with a purple cut crease ( Sugarpill) and a gold glitter Lid ( Lit Festive), finished with double stacked lashes ( Peaches 7's and 8's that I had stashed before they sold out), as well as bottom strip lashes layered with individuals. Bec is also wearing a set of Desio contact lens in innocent white to really make her eyes pop.
For the lips I created an ombre effect using La Girl gloss in Tempt to stick Lit Glitters Vixen ( a bright red) and I Feel Love ( a deep plum).
I then applied some homemade leafy prosthetics using 3rd Degree silicone modelling compound. This is bit tricky and messy to use so you need to practice before you try it out for real. Its amazing for creating all sorts of special effects... cuts, scratches, scales.... if you'd like to give it try before you buy some book onto one of our sfx workshops that we are holding on the 21st October where you get it see it in action as well as try it on on yourself. It the end to all of your derma wax nightmares. To paint the prosthetics I used a skin illustrator palette that I picked up at this years IMATS. I also couldn't resist colouring in Bec's rose tattoos!
We also have another Halloween masterclass running on the 14th October although I still haven't decided on a character to demo. Whatever I choose I will show you a range of different techniques that can be applied to create lots of different theatrical looks! Spaces cost £30 and can be booked by calling 0151 227 1669.
